Right now, euthanasia is still illegal in Taiwan. In 2014, a 29-year-old American woman named Brittany Maynard was suffering from terminal brain cancer. She moved from California to the state of Oregon so that she could end her life under that state’s Death with Dignity Act. These states only allow residents to take advantage of the law. 家人表示兄妹倆的感情相當好，在馬文被槍殺身亡後，艾比蓋兒曾在告別式上數度哭倒在哥哥的棺木上，認為發生這種事情絕非造假，她也曾上網找尋是否有目擊者，希望能早日還給哥哥一個公道。
